Power Range™: A Free Influence and Engagement Assessment

Ted Lasso and all related characters and elements are the property of Apple Inc., Warner Bros. Television Studios, and their related entities.

A personalized way to see how you engage — at work, at home, and in every group you're part of — and build the range to meet any moment deliberately.

Power Range builds the self-awareness to be more deliberate and impactful with your influence. It measures how you use influence with the people you engage with: how much you put others before yourself versus yourself before others, and how far you can move from your default when a situation calls for the other approach. Influence is not the same as authority. Authority is what you are given. Influence is what you produce.

Power Range reports at both the individual and group level, so it works for one person, a pair, or a team. Leaders can use it as a free leadership assessment to see how their power range affects the people they work with, and groups and organizations can use it with leadership teams, peer groups, direct reports, and boards.

More than a leadership self assessment

Power Range is designed to start discussion among people who work together, so it works best with groups of up to 10 members. A group report shows how the group works together, not who reports to the same manager. If you lead a larger department, form logical groups of people who work together. If you need help, reach out.

How Power Range™ Works

  • Take the survey. Answer 20 paired questions about how you engage in one context, such as a team, a family, or a board.
  • Create a free account. After you finish, create a free account to see your results right away, with downloadable reports and resources for further learning.
  • Share and invite others. Choose whether to share a high-level summary of your results with the group and invite others to take the survey. A dashboard displays your individual and group reports.
  • Repeat for other contexts. Take the survey again for your leadership team, peer group, direct reports, board, or volunteer group, and invite people to each one. Each group's data stays separate from every other group.

What Your Power Range Results Show

Your result for a particular group or context place you on a spectrum, from Highly Accommodative to Highly Assertive for your overall result and for each assessed attribute. While it describes your usual approach with that group, it is not a verdict or a permanent trait. Building awareness of how you interact in a group is an initial step toward being more deliberate and effective with your influence.

Overall Poles

Accommodative ↔ Assertive.

Both are equally legitimate ways to use influence; neither is positioned as better.

Five Attributes

Focus: Relating ↔ Achieving

Voice: Inviting ↔ Driving

Posture: Receptive ↔ Confident

Pace: Deliberate ↔ Decisive

Candor: Diplomatic ↔ Challenging

Power Range

Narrow range or Broad range, showing how far you can move from your default when a situation calls for it.

Alignment 360™: An Organizational Culture Assessment

A data-driven way to see how your business culture supports or hinders your strategic objectives — and what requires focused refinement to meet your targets.

Alignment 360 is an organizational culture assessment that gives leaders a detailed view of their culture, based on the Competing Values Framework and shaped by how both employees and leadership experience it. It makes culture, which often feels intangible, both visible and measurable, and identifies the gaps between your current culture and the culture you want.

More than an engagement assessment

Alignment 360 is a 360 of your organizational culture, not a 360 review of individuals. Unlike an individual 360 review, it does not report on any leader or employee. It assesses culture across client-defined leadership levels, groups, divisions, and locations.

Alignment 360 is administered by our coaches to teams and organizations, from small teams to multinational corporations. It draws on how culture is experienced by many people across your organization. Responses are fully anonymous, and no individual user data is collected. Your team receives the results and support on how to interpret them as deliverables.

How Alignment 360™ Works

  • We administer the assessment. Employees and leaders across your organization, in different groups, divisions, and locations, share how they experience your culture today and the culture they want. Responses are fully anonymous.
  • You see the gaps. Results show where your current and desired culture differ and how the gaps vary across your organization, so you can focus culture alignment work where it matters most.
  • Our coaches work with your leadership and change teams. Professional leadership, transformation, and business agility coaches facilitate sessions that help your teams align around a shared direction, build a common language, and set goals for where you want and need to go.
  • Aligned to your values. Our approach starts with the values your leaders want to foster, then we help you shape the structures, policies, and metrics to support them from the inside out.

What Alignment 360 Measures

Alignment 360 is a Competing Values Framework assessment based on the research of Cameron & Quinn at the University of Michigan. The framework describes four competing quadrants every organization balances:

  • Collaborate: Focusing on teams and connectedness.
  • Create: Focusing on autonomy and discovery.
  • Control: Focusing on reliability and efficiency.
  • Compete: Focusing on speed and results.

Every organization needs capability across all four. Strengthening one often draws from the others. How each organization uniquely manages the tensions between the quadrants is key to shaping the organization's culture.

Alignment 360 compares your current state with your desired state and shows the gap across your organization, including by leadership level, department, division, location, and business unit. Alignment 360 provides a baseline to help organizations expand range into underemphasized quadrants, and tempering an overextended range in others and then measures progress over time.
